My name is Erika Baracaldo. I’m a New York City-based graphic designer.
What do I bring to the table?
I bring experience. I’ve worked with advertising/marketing agencies like MME, Jack Morton. I’ve designed advertising/marketing assets, visual displays, packaging, logos, and more for household names like Sony, Moët & Chandon, Hennessy and Verizon. And as creative director for digital retail sites Layla Grayce and Zinc Door, I can churn out effective e-newsletter, social media, checkout page, and mobile e-commerce site designs, all at the drop of a hat.
I bring passion. A passion for typography, that is, because I can’t imagine a world without type. Use of typography—Helvetica is so 2001—can make or break the design, don’t you agree? I also have a knack for producing layouts both beautiful and function that communicate a memorable and compelling brand message. Like an interior designer selecting furniture and paint colors, transforming a blank space into something special through expert use of typography and layout is something that absolutely thrills me.
I also bring an eagerness to learn and grow. I may have graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2007, but I have never stopped learning or challenging myself, on or off hours. And on any given evening or weekend, you can find me at a seminar or design meet-up in the city. I’m eternally optimistic, positive, open to ideas, and, because I believe design should be fun, try to have a fabulous sense of humor, to boot.
